HAIJL takes roots within the Haitian Diaspora in the United States and Canada. We have been and continue to be a witness of individuals hardships within those of the Haitian community who desire to go back to their motherland, Haiti. Several individuals have tried to set-up their own business, yet have failed due to internal corruption and the legal barriers that have been established deliberately by members of the Haitian government and the civil society in an effort to keep the Diaspora from returning to Haiti. HAIJL is designed to operate within the Haitian authorities, the civil society in Haiti, and the Haitian Diaspora in an effort to replace the legal instruments that have impacted the Haitian community. HAIJL will make this mission effective by the following:

  • Advise members of the Haitian Parliament about a particular treaty or convention in regards to the rights of the Haitian Diaspora;

  • Advise Haitian authorities on foreign investment within the framework of International Business Law and trade agreement;

  • Help members of the Haitian Parliament to write new laws that will impact positively the Haitian Diaspora;

  • Help the Haitian government to create legal frameworks that will be in step with the rights of the Haitian Diaspora;

  • Monitor the evolution of a new law through a pilot program that will directly impact on a positive level the Haitian Diaspora;

  • Facilitate members of the Diaspora to set-up their own business without going through the chain of corruption;

  • Advise the members of the Diaspora on the types of security they need to set-up their own business in Haiti;

  • Facilitate any foreign businesses or entities how to set-up their business within the legal framework of Haiti;

  • Help Haitian authorities to ensure the effectiveness of decisions and awards in International Commercial Law, International Trade Law, and International Investment Law.
